April 2, 2013, Rocky Hill, CT. It is my great pleasure to announce on behalf of the Board of Directors that Morna A. Murray, J.D. has been selected to serve as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Connecticut Community Provider Association, Inc. Her first day in the position will be April 6th, when she will represent CCPA at the annual conference of the National Council for Community Behavioral Healthcare. Ms. Murray was selected from a pool of candidates assembled through a national executive search completed by The Meyers Group, of Bethesda, Maryland.

Ms. Murray, of Higganum, has a Bachelor’s in Arts from George Washington University and a Juris Doctor from the George Washington University National Law Center. She is a veteran public policy and advocacy professional who has devoted the last 15 years of her career to working on advocacy in the areas of health care, mental health, children’s health and disabilities at the Federal level. Before re-locating to Connecticut she was the Vice President and Counsel for First Focus of Washington, D.C. and previously served as Special Counsel/Senior Counsel to U.S. Senator Robert P. Casey, Jr. (D – PA) during the negotiations and formation of what would become the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. She is a frequent contributor to the Huffington Post and numerous blogs regarding public policy. Please follow this link to read Ms. Murray’s vitae:

Ms. Murray will begin attending Division meetings and other CCPA forums in the month of April as well as visit agencies to experience first hand the essential work of CCPA members. Sheila Amdur, Interim CEO, will stay on for a period of orientation to insure a seamless transition. Words can not effectively express my admiration and awe of Sheila Amdur! Thank you Sheila for your inspired leadership during this time of rapid change.

I also want to acknowledge the dedicated staff of CCPA for their focused efforts during the leadership transition. Due to their hard work, all CCPA initiatives, functions and member services were sustained despite the absence of a full time CEO for many months. Lastly, many thanks to the Search Committee and the 2012 and 2013 Board of Directors. I could not have asked for a more talented and dedicated team to guide the organization through this process.

Sincerely,

Gary M. Steck

Chairman
